Late Mesozoic magmatism and gold metallogeny of the Jiaodong Peninsula, China: A response to the destruction of the North China Craton

The late Mesozoic destruction of the eastern North China Craton (NCC) resulted from intense crust-mantle interaction, culminating in formation world-class gold deposits Jiaodong Peninsula at ca. 120 Ma. We present zircon U-Pb geochronological data, Hf isotopic compositions, whole-rock major and trace element, Sr-Nd-Pb compositions for two suites granitoids: one (the Linglong suite) that hosts significant mineralization other Weideshan is largely unmineralized. suite was emplaced Late Jurassic 160 ± 3 Ma to 155 Ma, whereas Early Cretaceous 121 2 118 1 coeval with mineralization. Geochemical data indicate derived melting thickened lower crust NCC, mixed material Yangtze (YC) intervening Su-Lu Orogenic Belt, formed partial continental crust, addition enriched lithospheric mantle components. magmatism associated crustal growth resulting collision between NCC YC subsequent subduction Paleo-Pacific Oceanic Plate (PPOP). In contrast, triggered by rapid thinning asthenospheric upwelling slab roll-back stagnation PPOP beneath NCC. Lithospheric delamination induced widespread development secondary structures Tan-Lu Fault, providing favorable loci accumulation auriferous fluids.
